"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

Now that I have my car, it's time for my dad to slowly begin his search for a new car. Top of his list right now is an off lease Volvo XC70 T6 Polestar. He's looked at various SUVs/crossovers, and his favorites are the Ford Flex Ecoboost (obviously) and the Dodge Durango Citadel. We drove several editions of the Chrysler 300C, and were not impressed, despite the power and the burnouts. And now, he's decided that he's quite intrigued by the new Chevy/Holden SS, and he wants to go down and take a look at that. Fingers crossed!

Duuu ettt. Slap some exhaust and a supercharger on there for proper hot-rod hooning.

as much as I love that beast SS, a XC70 T6 AWD with Polestar is just ultra badass! Lucky guy!!!

We drove a standard T6 at the dealer, because they didn't have a Polestar there. It was an insane sleeper. I hope I get to see what an extra 25hp and 25 lb/ft of torque can do for it!

it's not an extreme difference but the chassis is freaking incredible the way it puts the power down. That is why the fairly large V60 Polestar can hit 60 MPH in 4.5 sec despite weight and only 450HP...lol "only 450 HP" :] Yup, the word of the day is chassis.

This is just Awesome, I would be more inclined towards the XC-70/Flex Eco-Boost though.
Have you suggested a second hand Maserati Quattroporte?

Yes, we actually looked at one while we were in Atlanta:
It was only like $37,000 and had about 50k miles. It was very tempting, but then we remembered that we enjoy activities such as eating and wearing clothes and having a house with electricity and running water, and figured forgoing those things to pay for the repairs on a used Maserati was not a smart plan.

Hahah wow, I just said it like if it was never going to happen, but it did! Yeah, I would be thinking the same about the future repairs. If I was a millionaire though....
Also, nice Phaeton in the back!

Is that a GTO behind the Phaeton? If so that's an awesome collection of cars in a picture...

No, there was really no way it was gonna happen. It was fun to look at, and technically we could afford the sticker price, but we couldn't afford anything else about it.
And that is my uncle's Phaeton, the one I almost got. He lives (lived) in Atlanta, and went with us to see the Maserati.

AWESOME! Yeah I read your stories and wondered what had happened to the Phaeton, still, you ended up with the A8 which is desperately cool!

Damn! If it is a GTO I hat tip to your ability of defining cars

It's a guess. The rear windshield kinda looks like it and the edge of the taillight looks similar.
I'm far better at recognizing airplanes than cars, I can only ID modern cars (basically 2005 and newer)
I don't think it's a GTO

I think it could be, but the taillight shape is somewhat different

Get the SS! Poor man's M5 is what Top Gear said about the old one.
